Tanner Creek Energy Installs 35 Kilowatt Solar Energy System at the Les Schwab Headquarters in Bend, Oregon

Portland, OR (March 3, 2009) – Tanner Creek Energy, an Oregon-based developer of commercial and industrial scale solar electric systems, announced that it has completed the installation of a 35kW system at the new Les Schwab Tire Centers headquarters in Bend, Oregon.

Power generated by the photovoltaic (PV) panels on the south-facing roof will be fed back into the power grid and credited to the Les Schwab account. Tanner Creek Energy designed the roof-mounted system atop one of the tire company's two 120,000 square-foot office buildings. The headquarters sit on twelve acres at the mixed-use development center at Juniper Ridge in Bend.

Les Schwab's headquarters will be the first building in the city's 1,500-acre Juniper Ridge development, which will eventually contain a university, hundreds of homes and a research and development park. Juniper Ridge will offer bikeways, pedestrian paths, running trails and a network of parks, gathering places, and open spaces to appeal to both commercial and residential occupants.

"This system is energy efficient and cost effective," said Les Schwab CEO Dick Borgman. "Reducing the use of non-renewable energy sources enables us to cut costs and lead the way for environmentally responsible business practices in our industry."

"Les Schwab's choice to leverage renewable energy at Juniper Ridge demonstrates the company's commitment to the community and to the environment," said Alan Hickenbottom, founder of Tanner Creek Energy.
