Pringle Creek Community
Pringle Creek Community, a 32-acre infill neighborhood in Salem, Oregon, is emerging as a world-class example of 21st Century development practices. The project’s guiding principles integrate green building, energy efficiency and respect for our natural environment. As such, the evolving neighborhood is already home to one of the largest clusters of LEED Silver, Gold and Platinum homes in America.
In September 2009, Tanner Creek Energy completed the design and installation of a 20.2 kW grid-tie roof-mounted photovoltaic system as part of Pringle Creek’s regeneration of a 75-year old industrial services building. This building is scheduled for LEED Platinum Certification and will serve as a community learning and meeting center. This system will produce approximately 21,600 kWh of electricity per year and will reduce the building’s carbon impact by an average of 18 tons each year and by over 400 tons over the 25 year life of the system.
